Synopsis
Morgan Frank is having a hard time finishing his latest novel when the rest of his world starts to unravel around him. Ultimately, a friendship is rewritten and renewed.

The Process
This past weekend we filmed 'Letters to Eva' as a part of the Columbus 48 Hour Film Project. Our assigned genre was Buddy Film, which worked incredibly well with the required line of dialogue, "That's better than what happened to me." Additionally, we were required to use a large plant and a character named Morgan or Becky Frank, a writer.

After drawing the required elements, the writing began while the post and production teams got squared away. Friday night was a marathon writing session with the script continuing to be refined till 6:00 a.m. on Saturday. We began filming at our first location by 8:30 a.m. Saturday and rolled for 12 hours—wrapping just after 9:00 p.m. (we took breaks for lunch and dinner). We even had time to shoot a couple of unplanned scenes suggested by our Director of Photography that turned out brilliantly.

Sunday started out calmly, but by the end of the day we were pushing the deadline hard—color grading, creating an original score, designing sound beds and animating Saul Bass-style ending credits. We turned the finished film in with a bare five minutes to spare.

Just like to thank the crew of Letters to Eva for allowing Maryellen and I to be part of your project. We loved the film and appreciate how considerate the crew was. Good Luck

WOW! Did you guys learn a lot from your first 48-hour film experience! I hope you had as much fun as we did in 2008. A thoroughly enjoyable film in all aspects - and I especially like the credits. I look forward to seeing lots more from this talented group, and being able to say "I knew them when......" :)
